The 22-year-old from Guadalajara, resplendent in a flowing ruby-red evening gown, said she plans to study nutritional science but has been modeling since she was 15.

She is expected to spend her year as Miss Universe drawing attention to the plight of people with HIV/AIDS and breast cancer, according to pageant officials.

India’s Miss Universe contestant criticised

New Delhi: A deep shade of blue, expansive peacock wings and frothy blue fabric forming a train. Sounds like a fancy dress costume? Actually, it’s the gown that Ms India, Ushoshi Sengupta, wore for the National Costume round of the Ms Universe pageant, in Las Vegas, US, on Monday.

Designed by Kolkata-based designer duo Dev R Nil, the dress, which seemed to lack structured tailoring, looked like a gown gone horribly wrong, say Indian designers. It was also a deviation from the ethnic lehenga choli that Indian contestants have been wearing at the pageant for years. The fashion frat is not reacting too kindly to the ‘fusion dress’.

Designer Shaina NC says, “The ideal option for this round would have been an innovatively draped sari, as that perfectly sums up Indian style sensibility.” Designer Mandira Wirk says, “The designers took the theme of peacock too literally. There is no subtle femininity in the outfit.” Designer Nida Mahmood says, “The colours on the gown  came out a bit strong.” Ritu Kumar, who has been designing national costumes for Miss Universe contestants for the past many years, said, “I would not criticise anybody’s

London: She is a model, yet Miranda Kerr says she devotes minimum time to get dressed so that she gets enough time to have a good sleep every night.

“Because of my limited time, I try to maximise the very few hours I get to sleep at night. In the mornings, I give myself 15 minutes to get out of the house,” Kerr says.

“I jump in the shower, throw on a dress, moisturise my face and then I’m out the door. I don’t have time to think about it. As soon as the alarm goes, I’m up. I never hit the snooze button,” added the Australian model, who is married to “Pirates of the Caribbean” star Orlando Bloom.

She also said that eating organic foods and drinking plenty of water helps her

Washington: Women buy sexier clothes when they're ovulating, researchers from the University of Minnesota found in a study they say could impact how products associated with looks are marketed. "The desire for women at peak fertility to unconsciously choose products that enhance appearance is driven by a desire to outdo attractive rival women," said Kristina Durante, a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management and lead author of the study. "If you look more desirable than your competition, you are more likely to stand out."
