Robinho signs for AC Milan

Rome: Brazilian star Robinho signed for Serie A giants AC Milan on Tuesday on a four-year contract for 15million euros from English Premier League side Manchester City where he had an unhappy two year spell.

The 26-year-old was a shock signing two years ago by City for 32.5million pounds but fell out of favour soon after Roberto Mancini took over as manager last season.

He was loaned out to Brazilian side Santos last January,

Government withdraws recognition to Hockey India

New Delhi: The government on Thursday withdrew the recognition to Hockey India for violating its guidelines, barely a few hours after HI completed its controversial elections.

The government took the step after finding Hockey India's reply to a show cause notice unsatisfactory.

New Delhi: A week after TV reports of a murky deal with London-based AM firm, IOA probe panel sacked Commonwealth Games Organising Committee joint director T S Darbari, a close aide of OC chief Suresh Kalmadi.

The Left and BJP have, meanwhile, sought the ouster of Kalmadi.

Earlier in the day, OC treasurer Anil Khanna resigned from the post in the wake of allegations that his son's firm had secured a contract for laying synthetic courts at a tennis stadium. A K Mattoo has been appointed the new treasurer.

France's World Cup squad members suspended for next game

Paris: The 23 members of France's World Cup squad have been suspended for the country's next game, the French Football Federation (FFF) said on Friday.The decision was taken during a meeting of the FFF's Federal council on the recommendation of new coach Laurent Blanc following the country's World Cup debacle, a statement said.
